COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIP OFFICER
(MATERNITY LEAVE COVER)
This is a full-time position initially for a period of 6 months with
the possibility of extension. This role may suit a recent graduate,
keen to work with a human rights organisation committed to realising
the rights of refugees.

LOCATION Hybrid working is available for this role. Travel will be
required.

ABOUT NASC:
Nasc, the Migrant and Refugee Rights Centre (Nasc) is a registered
charity and NGO located in Cork City. Nasc, the Irish word for "link"
empowers migrants to realise and fulfil their rights. Nasc works with
migrants and refugees to advocate and lead for change within
Ireland’s immigration and protection systems, to ensure fairness,
access to justice and the protection of human rights.
Nasc’s Community Sponsorship Team implements the Community
Sponsorship programme in Areas 2 (Cork, Kerry) and 5 (Waterford,
Wexford, Carlow, Kilkenny and Laois). Community Sponsorship is a
government programme that gives communities the opportunity to come
together as a Community Sponsorship Group (CSG) to welcome resettled
refugees to their local communities. Resettlement is legal pathway
that allows refugees to relocate safely into Ireland. The Community
Sponsorship programme in Ireland currently focuses on Syrian refugees
in UNHCR resettlement lists in Jordan and Lebanon. It also provides a
framework for supporting a cohort of Afghan humanitarian admissions.
As part of their commitment, members of CSGs are asked to comply with
the programme’s formal requirements which includes planning,
fundraising, sourcing accommodation for the sponsored individual or
family for a period of * months and provide
integration supports for a period of * months.
